Hi, it’s Deanna Kangas – Director of Voicehouse and this week it’s my six healthy tips for singers to follow in order to take good care of your voice.

So, as you start singing you’re going to notice this more and more, its so important to take good care of your voice, so here are my 6 tips to help you do just that!

1. Sing Everyday.

Your voice muscles are just like the rest of the muscles in your body. You want to make sure that you are keeping them strong by using them as much as you can.

2. Always Warm Up.

Warming up your voice muscles gently before you get started will help prevent strain and injury.

3. Sing Correctly.

Don’t practice your old bad habits. Make sure you’re using proper technique at all times.

4. Drink Water.

Drink lots of water. The vocal folds like to be nice and lubricated to avoid soreness and dryness while you’re singing.

5. Don’t Shout.

Make sure you take good care of your voice and don’t overuse or strain it.

6. Get Some Rest.

The voice loves being well rested just like the body does. So make sure you have plenty of sleep, especially the night before a show.
